Qaid Jawhar entered Egypt. The Imam had sent his commander in chief, Qaid Jawhar al-Siqqili to conquer Egypt and build a new city, starting with the masjid, al-Jame al-Azhar. He had sent instructions on how and where the masjid, the palace and other parts of the city should be built. Then, two years later, he graced the city by his own presence and made it the capital of the Fatimi empire. From this day on, Fatimi fiqh was established as the official fiqh in Egypt. The azan was given with "hayyala khayril amal" and the Misri calendar, which we use today, was established as the official state calendar. |
