The Companion of Amirul Mumineen AS
Kumail bin Zyad al-Nakhea who was from a noble family in Yemen, was a close friend and faithful follower of the infalliable Holy Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib AS.
The Dua that is recited on Laylat-un-Nisf (15mi raat) was taught by Amirul Mumineen AS to Kumail RA. This Dua is famous by the name of Dua-e-Kumail (this was published by our beloved mother Amatullah Aai Saheba a few years ago and it is also present in the Sahifah that is dedicated to her). Amirul Mumineen AS's vasiyat to Kumail is also one of the famous wordings of history in which Amirul Mumineen AS has described knowledge (al-Ilm) and Men of Knowledge. In this famous kalemaat Amirul Mumineen AS has openly given a description of Duat-us-Satr and expressed his will and desire to see them.
He joined Abd al-Rahman ibne al-Ashath armed revolt against the wicked and oppressive rule of al-Hajjaj, of the Shia people, who was appointed by the 10th Ummayat ruler Abd al-Malik bin Marwan (LA).
Abd al-Rahman ibne al-Ashath's army advanced deep towards Iraq and they defeated al-Hajjaj's army and liberated Sajestan and Kirman in Iran. However, finally at the battle of Deer al-Jamajum, al-Hajjaj defeated Abid al-Rahman.
Abd al-Rahman ibne al-Ashath escaped to Turkey and all the revolutionaries scattered and escaped. But al-Hajjaj was relentless in capturing the Shia Kumail bin Zayad al-Nakhea who was in hiding.
So al-Hajjaj imprisioned and tortured Kumail's family and followers until he caught their Shia leader.
Kumail bin Zyad al-Nakhea decided to hand himself over to al-Hajjaj men. They took him to al-Hajjaj's court who had with him standing on his side an executor.
On seeing Kumail, al-Hajjaj demanded he renounce Ali ibne Abi
Talib AS and his life would be spared.
Disown Ali, to save your soul!
Kumail ibne Zyad al-Nakhea said in defiance :
Show me a religion better than Ali AS's
al-Hajjaj then said : You will be executed.
My master Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib AS had told me of my death by your hands. You are an enemy of Allah, so kill me if you please, and know that on the Judgement Day will be your killing.
al-Hajjaj was visibly angered, replied screaming : Then go and join your master.
al-Hajjaj promptly ordered the swordsman to behead Kumail ibne

Off with his head now
The Ziyarat of Kumail RA is located in a nearby town to Najaf and Aqa Moula TUS has performed his ziyarat several times.
