Wiladaat: 16th Zilhijjatil haraam 1198H / 1784 AD
Wafaat: 15th Zilqadatil haraam 1252 H/ 1837 AD, Surat, India
Syedna Tayyeb Zainuddin (RA) had arrived in Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin's (RA) presence prior to Syedna Mohammmed Ezzuddin (RA). Syedna Saifuddin had great affection for Syedna Zainuddin and nurtured him with knowledge and imbued him with good characters. Molana Saifuddin entrusted Molana Zainuddin with many D`awat affairs and Syedna Ezzuddin conferred nas upon him; he was 38 years old when he came to the throne of D`awat.
A major flood took place in Surat in 1237H during which Syedna Zainuddin gave refuge to all peoples.
Government officers gave Molana Zainuddin great respect, seeking his advice. He was a senior member of the Mumbai Governor's Council.
In 1239H Syedna Zainuddin embarked on a tour of Mumineen towns and cities and everywhere Mumineen offered extensive khidmat. The D`awat standard was raised aloft.
Molana went to Mandasaur and here too his shaan was seen prominently but in seeing this the adversaries of D`awat set about in major subterfuge. Molana was physically attacked but Allah (ta) protected him and Mumineen. The British authorities sent troops for his protection.
Molana went to Indore where the Maharaja, Halkar, sent his Commander-in-Chief Tatya Saheb to receive him. Molana was similarly received in Ujjain before returning to Surat at the end of the trip.
Syedna had great affection for talabatul ilm (students) and reorganized the system of study.
He built the qubba mubaraka of Syedi Fakhruddin Al-Shaheed (qs - Galyakot, India) and the Qubba Ezziyyah (named for Syedna Mohammed Ezzuddin (RA)) in Surat. In The Yemen the qubba of Syedna Hatim (RA) had fallen into disrepair and the people there sought to rebuild it. However, whenever the builder would do his work the next day it would be found in ruins again and they were unable to progress. A Mumin commented that Syedna Hatim would only accept it if the Da`ii of Haq carried out the work and subsequently Syedna Zainuddin had the qubba built.
The succession of Du`aat Mutlaqeen continues in Syedna Zainuddin's progeny, Aqa Mohammed Burhanuddin Mola (tus) is his descendant.
Syedna Zainuddin conferred nas upon Syedna Mohammed Badruddin (RA) on the 11th of Zilqad and passed away at midnight, eve of the 15th.
His reign lasted 16 years, 1 month and 26 days and his age was 54 years.
Al-Dail ajal Syedna Tayyeb Zainuddin's (r.a.) wilaadat took place in the era of Syedna Abduttayeb Zakiyuddin (r.a.).
Initially Molana Zainuddin emigrated to the hazrat of Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin (r.a.) and Molana Saifuddin had considerable affection for him. Molana Saifuddin nurtured and tutored him, elevating Molana Zainuddin through the ranks and entrusting much of the affairs of Dawat to him.
In 1229 H, on the second of Sherullahil Moazzam, Allah t`aala granted Molana Zainuddin a son who was named 'Yusuf'. Molana Abdeali Saifuddin changed that name to Abdulqadir - (Syedna Abdulqadir Najmuddin (r.a.).
Syedna Saifuddin had willed to Syedna Mohammed Ezzuddin (r.a.) to institute Syedna Zainuddin as Mukasir and to link this appointment to Molana Saifuddin. Covertly, Molana Saifuddin had instructed Molana Ezzuddin to appoint Molana Zainuddin as his successor.
As Molana Ezzuddin returned from the janaaza of Syedna Saifuddin, Molana Zainuddin took the sandals from the hands of the khaadim and put them on Syedna's feet. Syedna Ezzuddin exclaimed, "What is this that you are doing?" to which Syedna Zainuddin replied, "You are the Dai and I am your humble servant."
When Molana Ezzuddin became ill he was very concerned as to handing over the amaanat (of nas) and he called for two sahebs from the huduud and conferred nas upon Syedna Zainuddin. Molana instructed that this nas be kept secret.
In 1232, during the Ashara waaz, Molana Ezzuddin spoke of the virtues of Duaat Mutlaqeen (r.a.) and in the course of this he spoke of the fazaail of Syedna Zainuddin and declared the nas. Syedna Tayyeb Zainuddin became Dai at the age of 38 - seeing his radiant forehead those with insight had already given glad tidings beforehand.
Molana zainuddin's era was one of prosperity, Molana's philanthropy and charity were abundant - all the people would come to him seeking gifts of knowledge and of wealth. Those calmities that did befall were tackled with great fortitude. In 1237 a major flood hit Surat in which many people drowned and buildings were lost. The water stayed in the city for 5 days and Molana Zainuddin sent help to all peoples, sending grains, sheltering them in Masjid-e-Moazzam, feeding them and clothing them.
In 1239, during Ashara Mubaraka, Molana performed the zikr of Imam Husain (a.s.) in an exceptional manner and on Ashura Khuda t`aala granted him a son who was named 'Abdul Husain' (Syedna Abdul Husain Husamuddin (r.a.).
Syedna Zainuddin enacted the will of Syedna Ezzuddin as well as that which still remained of Syedna Saifuddin's will.
In 1239 Molana set out on a tour of Malwa - he took alongwith him Syedna Mohammed Badruddin (r.a.) and Molana Abdulqadir Najmuddin (r.a.) as well as huduud kiraam and talabatul ilm in khidmat. Along the way Molana stopped at Bharuj, Khambaat, Kaparwanj, Lunawara, Dohad, Ratlam and thereafter - with great ceremony - Molana reached Mandsaur. Mumineen did a great deal of khidmat whilst - seeing this shaan and glory the enemies were consumed with jealousy. They set about stirring trouble, harassed Mumineen and surrounded Molana's palace. They fired shots at the building - one narrowly missing Molana. News reached the English governors and Captain Borthwick and Willesley were despatched from Neemuch Chawni with a regiment to assist Molana. Allah protected Molana and under him protected Mumineen.
Molana Zainuddin then went to Indore where the Maharaja - Holkar - sent a dignitary to receive him at a distance of 3 miles. The Maharaja hosted Molana with great respect and honour and Molana stayed in Indore. On the 27th of Rajabul Asab Molana took Syedna Mohammed Badruddin's misaaq. Thereafter Molana went to Ujjain where Mumineen performed exceptional khidmat and Molana stayed for 10 months. Once again munafiqeen were consumed with bitterness and enmity and began causing trouble. Another British regiment was despatched from Neemuch Chawni while Al-Mola Abdulqadir went to the Maharaja of Gwalior to seek assistance - the maharaja assisted considerably.
Thereafter Molana travelled to Rampura where Wazira Aaisaheba completed her nazar of ziyarat of Syedi Bawa Mulla Khan (qs). During his stay people came from all around to take their share or barakaat until Molana departed for Surat on the 11th of Zilhaj 1240.
During his era the numbers of Talabatul Ilm multiplied - Molana had great affection for them, he structured the order of teaching and established the curriculum. No kitaab was allowed to be taught without permission - be it zahir or batin.
Molana performed the marriages of Syedna Abdeali Saifuddin's shahzada - Syedna Mohammed Badruddin alongwith those of his own shahzadas Syedna Abdulqadir Najmuddin and Syedna Abdul Husain Husamuddin. Mumineen attended in large numbers from all over the world of Imaan - the mohallas and bazaar were decorated - especially Al-Darsus Saifee which was particularly beautiful and the weddings took place with great pomp and ceremony.
Molana Zainuddin entrusted both Syedna Badruddin and Syedna Najmuddin to Syedi Abdeali Imaduddin who tutored them both and prepared them. Syedna elevated them both to the rank of haddiyat - Syedna Badruddin being appointed Raasul Huduud and Syedna Najmuddin Sadrul Huduud.
Worldly leaders paid great respect to Molana - the British sought his counsel and he had a high standing in the Governor's council of Mumbai. Sergeant Malcolm corresponded with Molana and the epithets he used to address Molana would always be of a distinguished nature.
On the first of Rabiul Awwal 1252, al-Mazoon al-ajal Syedi Al-Shaikhadam Safiyuddin (qs) passed away; Molana appointed Syedi Hebatullah Jamaluddin (qs) as Mazoon on Eidul Fitr. At the same time Syedna Badruddin was appointed Mukasir and Syedna Najmuddin Raasul Huduud. Thereafter Molana remained in Surat, illness took hold of him and led to weakness. On the 11th of Zilqad Molana conferrred nas upon Syedna Badruddin and on the eve of the 15th at nisful layl, Molana passed on.
During his era several important structures were built - the original qubba mubaraka of Syedi Fakhruddin al-Shaheed (r.a.), the Qubba Ezziyah in Surat and Molana rebuilt the qubba mubaraka of Syedna Hatim (r.a.). Syedna Hatim's qubba had fallen into disrepair and several attempts by various people to rebuild it had failed. That was unitil Molana Zainuddin had it built. Some time later it was destroyed by enemies. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Aqa (tus) had it rebuilt and at this very moment in time plans are underway to build a new qubba mubaraka.
May Allah t`aala grant our beloved Aqa and Mola sehat and aafiyat taa qiyamat - to continue to build the glories of Dawat ever higher and ever greater.
